For The Community
Cornerstones is part of the Methodist Church in Chester-le-Street and was launched in September 2010 in a new purpose-built set of premises which cost around £1m, and which were funded by a combination of grants and local fund raising. Cornerstones represents a permanent commitment by the whole Church to reach out and become more involved in the life of the community in Chester-le-Street and for the community to share in the broader life of the Church.
Since its inception, the community centre has introduced a diverse array of activities to complement those already offered by the Church. These activities encompass a broad range of educational, training, recreational, and social opportunities that cater to all ages and abilities. The building offers complete Wi-Fi accessibility and boasts fully-equipped disabled access throughout all its rooms. The varied room sizes, some with added kitchen facilities, make the centre an appealing destination for businesses seeking a conference venue or a simple meeting place. This same versatility also renders the centre an equally desirable choice for private events, such as children’s parties or family gatherings, proving increasingly popular among the public
We are happy to announce that Cornerstone Centre for the Community at Chester-le-Street Methodist Church has been awarded National Lottery funding to continue with our work and commitment of the Church to reach out and become more involved in the life of the community of Chester-le-Street and for the community to be supported by the wider Church family. Thanks to the National Lottery for their support.
